1965 Mark1 Lotus Cortina Was The Star Of The Show

2011 Ford Fair winner Tom Campbell receives his award for his 1965 Mark1 Lotus Cortina from Donal Gallagher, branch manager at Lindsay Ford Mallusk.
Lindsay Ford in Mallusk was pleased to welcome this year’s Ford Fair Car of the Show winner to the dealership. The Ford Fair was held in at the Dunluce Centre in Portrush on earlier this year and record crowds flocked to the seaside town to celebrate 100 years of Ford in Britain.
Show winner Tom Campbell brought his pride and joy – a 1965 Mark1 Lotus Cortina to the Lindsay Ford dealership in Mallusk to be presented with his Ford Fair Trophy by branch manager Donal Gallagher.
The 2011 Ford Fair was a fantastic success despite the wet weather conditions and crowds flocked to see the hundreds of Fords on display. Alan Simpson was the master of ceremonies and entertained the crowds with lots of humour, music and interviews. There were also trade stands for the crowds to browse and lots of family entertainment to keep the children busy! The Ford Fair has grown over the last number of years and is now the largest fair in Ireland.
Tom commented to Donal Gallagher, “Winning Car of the show at this year’s Ford Fair was a brilliant surprise. It has taken 3 years to restore it to its current condition and it really is the 3rd child in the family! The Ford Fair gets bigger and better every year and I was proud to be this year’s winner. It’s a great day out for all the family.”
Tom has been interested in Ford cars all his life; his love of Ford started with his father’s Ford Anglia and he wouldn’t drive anything. His “everyday” car is a Ford Focus. Tom has been attending the Ford Fair since the beginning, back in 2005 and the range of cars on display increases every year with lots of amazing examples of the Ford product range throughout the past 100 years.
Next year’s Ford Fair will be on Sunday 10th June. You can check out photos from this year’s event on the Causeway Coast Ford Fair Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/causewayfordfair. For further information about displaying your Ford at the 2012 event keep an eye on the Facebook page
