Great news for Ford for the month of May with increases in both Car sales and market share; these strong car sales helped boost Ford’s UK leadership in May compared with May 2010.
The best sellers in May were the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus, these two vehicles are also the best sellers for the year to date which isn’t surprising when you take into account the huge advances in technology encompassed on both models.
Official Figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that total UK car sales in May, compared with May 2010, were down 1.7% to 150, 431. Despite the overall decline in car sales in the UK as a whole Ford car sales increased to 21,581 from 21,300 in May 2010.
The Ford Fiesta and the Ford C-Max had particularly strong sales performances in May, both increasing volume and share compared with May 2010. Fiesta sales increased from 6,619 to 8,135 for the month and C-Max sales more than doubled from 734 in May 2010 to 1,548.
