The Ford Fiesta stormed up the best seller car listing from fourth place in February to the top and was named as the UK’s most popular car according to the latest car sales figures for March 2011 from the Society of Motoring Manufacturer’s (SMMT).
Over 27,924 Ford Fiesta models were sold throughout the UK with the Ford Focus the larger hatchback in three-door, five-door and estate body styles, coming in at second place in the best seller list of Car in the UK in March.
1 in every 10 cars sold in the UK this year has been either a Ford Fiesta, Corsa supermini or an Astra respectively with Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive attributing the success of these vehicles to the downsizing trend as fuel prices continue to rise.
